Putting the B in LGBT History MonthAnother date from bi history for you: 6th July 1997 was the first London Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Pride. Previously called Lesbian & Gay Pride, the name change had happened at the start of the year following work in 1996 by a specially convened Pride Bi Working Group.

For a couple of years as a result there was a bi space at London Pride, with a bi tent full of stalls and performers – including “Glad To Be Gay” singer Tom Robinson’s return to London Pride after his outing in the press as having a girlfriend.

The day after Pride saw a joint picnic bringing together BiCon 96, London Bi Group, London Bi Women’s Group, London SM Bisexuals, the Black Bi Group, plus volunteers from the Bisexual Helpline and Bi Community News.
