Bisexual magazine Bi Community News has confirmed today that its subscription prices will be forced to rise following this week’s leap in the price of postage. BCN told us: “The additional postage costs will add about a pound to every subscription, and our margins just aren’t big enough to absorb that after last year’s postage price rise.” “The tone of the Royal Mail’s statements on the new postage rates suggest the new prices will not last long either, so we will be having to look at our pricing for the longer term as well as the next twelve months.” You can subscribe to BCN online here. At the time of writing the prices are still as they were!

Manchester-based magazine Out North West puts biphobia in the spotlight in a feature on homophobia this month, interviewing people out and about on the city’s Canal Street queer quarter. Interviewees Jon and Lora both talk about coming up against homophobia and – though the word isn’t used – more specifically biphobia as bisexuals. Pick it up in venues across the North West or see their website.

This weekend’s National Union of Students LGBT conference includes one bi motion on its agenda, on recent reporting in Diva magazine about bisexuals dating lesbians. The motion reads: Motion 504 I’m not bi-curious, I’m bi-furious! Conference Notes: 1. Diva magazine is the only monthly glossy newsstand magazine for lesbians and bi women in the UK. Its facebook page expressly says one of its aims is “to encourage lesbians and bi women to feel happy and positive about their sexuality”. 2. Diva magazine invited comment on its facebook wall asking the following question: “I am writing an article for DIVA magazine about why some lesbians avoid dating bi women and the reasons for their decision. This is not a generalised article about biphobia, but looks at the specific choice some women make to exclude bisexuals from their “dating pool”. My aim is to explore an issue that continues to provoke strong feelings within our community in an objective way, and to understand why this is so.” 3. This topic [...]
