BiFest Manchester to mark International Celebrate Bisexuality Day

BiFest is a one-day festival celebrating bisexuality, open to bisexual, bi-friendly and bi-curious people – and for the second time it’s coming to Manchester. Taking place on Saturday 23rd September from 12 noon til 6pm at the Lesbian & Gay Foundation on Princess Street, it’s an opportunity to meet bisexuals and find out what’s happening in the bisexual community.

Hosted by local bi support group BiPhoria, the programme will include workshop discussions on issues such as coming out as bisexual – whether from identifying as gay or straight beforehand – and staying out despite social pressure to ‘choose’. Read more

International BiCon Opens

The ninth International BiCon begins today in Toronto, Canada.

It runs from June 15th – 18th, 2006 at Ryerson University. The website describes the event as “The 9th International Conference on Bisexuality, Gender, and Sexual Diversity (aka 9icb)” – we expect it will be mostly called 9ICB or ICB9 by attendees.

The last UK-based International was the 6th in Manchester in 2000

BiCon comes to Glasgow

BiCon, the annual national bisexual gathering, is coming to Glasgow in 2006.

BiCon is an annual festival for bisexual people and their friends. Held in a different location each year, BiCon attracts between two hundred and three hundred people and is the single biggest event in the UK bisexual calendar. The 2006 event – which will be the 24th BiCon – will be held at Glasgow Caledonian University on the Glasgow Fair weekend (Thursday 13th – Monday 17th July), and will be the first time Glasgow has hosted the event.

The programme typically includes a wide variety of workshops and entertainments, ranging from support and discussion sessions to opportunities to have fun and relax. Previous events have had threads such as Cultural Differences and Spirituality, and there is usually a BiCon Ball, with a different theme each year. Read more
