Resources

There are a lot of good English-language bi resources out there, whether you are just starting to work out whether you are bi, or are comfortably “out” and just looking to find other bi folk in your area or to help raise bi visibility.

Bi Basics

Manchester BiPhoria has published “Getting Bi In A Gay / Straight World”, a glossy general bi community info leaflet for use in community centres and on Pride stalls etc. For copies contact them direct. It’s proved very popular with more than 15,000 copies produced and reprints overseas in English and Spanish.

For an alternative basic guide to bisexuality we suggest Both Directions, compiled by the UK bi activist network and published by Bi Community News.

Organising?

The BCN website also offers reports on the demographics of BiCon attendees, and an A-Z guide to running local bi social and support groups to help you get started.

Do drop us comments with suggestions of other resources we should list here.

  1. While realizing that this is primarily a British site, may we recommend you include the American group:

BiNet USA – an American national bisexual rights organization. It is a network of groups, projects and individuals, encouraging dialogue and participation as a way of creating and maintaining a cohesive bisexual community and empowering individuals to feel proud of their bisexuality.

Also we would like to bring to your attention the Blog (on LiveJournal):

Curried Spam – a collections of articles written by American Bisexual Rights Activist Wendy Curry. Ms. Curry is currently the president of BiNet USA.

in addition to articles of general interest Ms. Curry has a particular interest in the media and how it portrays and affects the Bisexual Community.

  2. Wendy’s blog has been added to our new Blogs link list; I’ll leade the BiNet link above as it is – at least unless or until we decide to roll this out as an international site to replace BiSquish!
