A fabulous International Celebrate Bisexuality Day to all our readers – it’s ten years since the first “ICBD” was marked. Back then here in the UK the only event to mark the occasion was a half-dozen bis propping up a corner of a bar in Manchester. This year there are events in Birmingham, London, Manchester, Norwich and Sheffield – and perhaps even the odd one we’ve yet to hear of! Whether you attend one of those events, mark the date by talking about bisexuality to friends or work colleagues, change your facebook photo to a bi ribbon or just privately to yourself – happy bi day!

Hot on the heels of the first Norwich LGBT Pride festival comes the city’s first big party to mark International Celebrate Bisexuality Day. The event will be at the Norwich Playhouse Bar, St George’s Street, with husband-and-wife DJ 78 and DJ Hilly – DJ 78 plays, well, 78rpm discs, mostly swing, early rock’n'roll, and such – but for this event he promises to mix it up a bit and play a bit of everything from the ’20s til the present day (when did you last see gramophones next to normal record decks?) Hilly plays 7″ singles, predominantly soul, Motown and disco. She will be delivering a ‘high camp’ set… making for a really ‘up’, party atmosphere. There’s also going to be a balloon sculptor, making risque and silly balloon models for partygoers. Then there’ll be a stall with Pride merchandise and (of course) bi resources. At midnight there’ll be the big announcement that it’s the beginning of Bi Day itself. So: 8pm – 12:30am, 22nd Sept, and best of all… FREE ENTRY!
