Oxford’s first BiFest in 2010 was an excellent day out with lots of bi and bifriendly people and a packed programme of discussion spaces, dancing and more. That set the bar high so perhaps it’s no wonder it has taken 2 years for another Oxford BiFest to come together! But we’re delighted to report that a date has been set of Saturday, 31 March 2012. They say: “We will have a bar with plenty of space for socialising, workshops on bisexuality and what it means and how it effects us, and a disco in the evening.” The venue will be the East Oxford Community Centre and a Facebook page for the event is up, along with a page on the BiFest hub site (where you can also find out about similar events elsewhere). More news nearer the time!

The organisers of the second Oxford BiFest – set for a month’s time – have announced the cancellation of the event. A public statement from the steering committee has been posted on the LiveJournal community ukbitalk. This month’s Big Bi Fun Day and September’s BiCon are organised entirely separately and are unaffected by this announcement. There is likely to be a smaller bi meet-up on the date planned for Oxford BiFest so those in the area or who have already made travel plans to be there will have a bi meet at which to get together.

There’s plenty going on in bi Britain this week. Tonight it’s the second bi bi baby adult club night of the year in Romford.
What are you up to this week? This week’s bi diary includes meetings in Swansea and Manchester – both on Tuesday evening – and Oxford and Edinburgh on Wednesday. And the week rounds off with Birmingham BiFest. So depending where you are on Tuesday you could pop along to Manchester’s regular bi social, a pub meet at the Waterhouse pub next to the town hall. Or you could join the Swansea bis for their regular discussion night. Wednesday if you’re in Oxford the local bis have a meet-up in the Castle Tavern, while in Edinburgh there’s the monthly Bi Edinburgh meet at the LGBT centre on Broughton Street. Saturday sees Birmingham BiFest. This is their second – last autumn’s was a splendid day out for bis, partners, friends and allies, and this one promises to be even better. See our calendar page to keep up to date with bi events around the UK – or add things in your area!
