This Saturday (March 31st) is the second Oxford BiFest, a day-long celebration and exploration of bi life. The organisers say: Whether you’re bisexual, bi-curious or bi-friendly, you’re welcome to join us. We’re planing on lots of socialising, introducing people who may not have found the large, vibrant and diverse communities of other bisexuals to each other, and forging new friendships in speed friending. There will be workshops running from 11:30am – 6pm, including ‘speed friending’, ‘getting bi in a gay-straight world’ (experiences of being bisexual), and ), ‘bi basics’ (coming out, finding bisexuals, bisexual groups/spaces). There will be a break for lunch and dinner where you can enjoy the culinary delights of Cowley Road. Watch this space for more workshops as they’re confirmed! There will be a DJ in the evening, and the bar will be open from midday, so there’ll also be plenty of opportunity to let you hair down! There will be a separate space for socialising, so if you don’t want want to go to all (or any) of the workshops you’re welcome to hang out and make new friends. Oxford BiFest will take place at the East Oxford Community Centre from 11am to 11pm on Saturday [...]

Oxford’s first BiFest in 2010 was an excellent day out with lots of bi and bifriendly people and a packed programme of discussion spaces, dancing and more. That set the bar high so perhaps it’s no wonder it has taken 2 years for another Oxford BiFest to come together! But we’re delighted to report that a date has been set of Saturday, 31 March 2012. They say: “We will have a bar with plenty of space for socialising, workshops on bisexuality and what it means and how it effects us, and a disco in the evening.” The venue will be the East Oxford Community Centre and a Facebook page for the event is up, along with a page on the BiFest hub site (where you can also find out about similar events elsewhere). More news nearer the time!

The organisers of the second Oxford BiFest – set for a month’s time – have announced the cancellation of the event. A public statement from the steering committee has been posted on the LiveJournal community ukbitalk. This month’s Big Bi Fun Day and September’s BiCon are organised entirely separately and are unaffected by this announcement. There is likely to be a smaller bi meet-up on the date planned for Oxford BiFest so those in the area or who have already made travel plans to be there will have a bi meet at which to get together.
