The government has now launched its public consultation on changing the laws on marriage in England and Wales, to take gender out of the equation and make marriage open to any couple. Bisexual magazine BCN is highlighting it with the slogan “Bi Do!”, reflecting their readers survey last year which found over 80% support for opening up marriage to same-sex couples. In the process they also hope to remind people that most of those affected by the planned change to the law aren’t gay or lesbian – so calling it “gay marriage” is a bit of a misnomer. Go on – give it a tweet, with the hashtag #BiDo!

Manchester bi group BiPhoria are the latest bisexual community project to join Twitter. You can follow them on the twitter service as biphoria. In turn we got an interesting technical query that BiMedia followers may be able to help with. The group told us, “we’d like to relay tweets from BiMedia that are tagged with ‘Manchester’ automatically – is there any way?” It’s beyond our geekskills here at BiMedia but perhaps a reader can help us – and them. No doubt it’s a function that a few other bi projects would want to take advantage of too.

We are delighted that best-selling UK bi mag Bi Community News is now carrying the latest headlines from BiMedia on their twitter feed. We approached BCN Towers for comment and were told, “BCN has long carried the headlines from BiMedia.org on the front page of its website and Twittering the latest BiMedia.org news seems an obvious step forward. “I can’t think why we didn’t do it sooner.”
