Making my own clothes (from bought patterns) has been a great way for me to have clothing that’s one of a kind. Whether its using Ankara fabric, or just playing with styles that don’t ever come in size very-fat, it’s a lot of fun. I shouldn’t have to this though. I should be able to go into a store and just buy clothes that fit, are affordable & ethically made. But that’s a pipe dream to most fat people. Even the dressmaking patterns I use are very limited when it comes to plus-sizes. But I still enjoy making my own clothes – especially since there’s a local market that sells hundreds of different kinds of cloth for £1 per yard!
