In particular, I&#8217;ve been trying to explain &amp; spread Kenji Yoshino&#8217;s ideas of how erasure functions on different interlocking levels. (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.uncharted-worlds.org\/blog\/2014\/10\/three-levels-of-bi-erasure\/\" title=\"Explanation by me: &#34;Three Levels of Bi Erasure&#34;\">Essay<\/a> \/ <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uncharted-worlds.org\/blog\/2015\/07\/video-of-a-speech-on-bi-erasure\/\">video<\/a>.) I think this understanding of bi erasure mechanisms is useful when we want to get better at noticing, naming and reversing it.\n\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\tRegular readers will <em>also<\/em> know that for many years now I&#8217;ve been making <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uncharted-worlds.org\/identitybadges\/chooseyourbadges.php?catalogue=bi_first&amp;featured=be\" title=\"Choose your &#34;Identity badges&#34;\">tiny works of art a.k.a. button badges<\/a>.  And earlier this year, it occurred to me to see if I could write a &#8220;<strong>bi erasure in a nutshell<\/strong>&#8221; summary that was short enough to fit on a one-inch badge!\n\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\tThis felt like an interesting challenge &#8211; how short could the gist of it possibly be made?\n\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\tHere&#8217;s what I came up with:\n\t\t<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<div class=\"literallayout\">\n<p>Bi&nbsp;Erasure<br \/>\n\t\t\t1&nbsp;No&nbsp;such&nbsp;thing<br \/>\n\t\t\t2&nbsp;Not&nbsp;bi&nbsp;enough<br \/>\n\t\t\t3&nbsp;Put-downs<br \/>\n\t\t\tStop&nbsp;that!<br \/>\n\t\t\tWe&nbsp;exist!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\n\t\t\tAnd here&#8217;s a mediocre pic of the beautiful little new badges:\n\t\t<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.uncharted-worlds.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/9badges_be.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.uncharted-worlds.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/9badges_be-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"Nine button badges each have the text &quot;Bi Erasure \/ 1 No such thing \/ 2 Not bi enough \/ 3 Put-downs \/ Stop that! \/ We exist!&quot; Each badge has a different colour of lettering, on a black background. Each layer has more to it, plus there&#8217;s the way they interlock to reinforce each other.  I&#8217;ve only homed in on a few key dimensions, and I might change my mind later about whether they were the <em>most<\/em> key to include.\n\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\tAnd it&#8217;s not like this is the badge that&#8217;s gonna make my fortune, either.  Even among bi themed badges, I bet it&#8217;ll never be as popular as &#8220;No, I&#8217;m BISEXUAL, <em>you&#8217;re<\/em> confused&#8221;.  Niche within a niche!\n\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\tBut I love the idea of this badge existing in the world &#8211; as a reminder, conversation-starter, and\/or affirmation that we&#8217;re not going along with it \ud83d\ude42\n\t\t<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>\nCopyright &copy; Jennifer Moore 2016.
