{"id":756,"date":"2013-10-09T20:44:00","date_gmt":"2013-10-09T19:44:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bimedia.org\/blogs\/?guid=1931ebec0d59e53f7c08fbc0311d8439"},"modified":"2013-10-09T20:46:13","modified_gmt":"2013-10-09T19:46:13","slug":"uk-government-minister-backs-bi-visibility-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bimedia.org\/blogs\/2013\/10\/uk-government-minister-backs-bi-visibility-day\/","title":{"rendered":"UK Government Minister backs Bi Visibility Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It was all a bit too hectic here for me to blog about it at the time, but let&#8217;s have a belated cheer for the Women &amp; Equality Minister<b> Jo Swinson MP<\/b> (Lib Dem, East Dunbartonshire), who was the first government figure in the UK to give their support to Bi Visibility Day.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>In a statement last month on September 23rd she said,<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"tr_bq\"><p>\u201cAbsolutely no-one should face prejudice and discrimination because of their sexual orientation or gender identity.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"tr_bq\"><p>\u201cThe UK is leading the way in LGB&amp;T equality and we can be proud  of the real progress that has been made in recent years.
