{"id":9076,"date":"2021-08-19T21:55:08","date_gmt":"2021-08-19T20:55:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.uncharted-worlds.org\/blog\/?p=2027"},"modified":"2021-08-19T21:55:08","modified_gmt":"2021-08-19T20:55:08","slug":"bi-funding-research-results","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bimedia.org\/blogs\/2021\/08\/bi-funding-research-results\/","title":{"rendered":"Bi funding research results"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Our <strong>research<\/strong> into the <strong>funding<\/strong> of <strong>UK bi organisations<\/strong> is out today!<\/p>\n<p>This represents a lot of people&#8217;s insights and ideas, gathered by me and Libby (of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thisisbiscuit.co.uk\/\">Biscuit<\/a>) and John (of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.meetup.com\/london-bisexuals\/\">London Bisexual Meetup<\/a>).\u00a0 Thanks to everyone who contributed!<\/p>\n<p>We said from the start that we wanted our findings to go out in public so that <em>other<\/em> interested funders could understand the lay of the land, rather than it only being internal to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.consortium.lgbt\/2021\/08\/19\/funding-bi-organisations-community-research-launches\/\">Consortium<\/a>, who&#8217;d commissioned the research. And we know that there are people from within bi communities who&#8217;ll be interested too.<\/p>\n<p>There are three versions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>key points<\/li>\n<li>funders&#8217; briefing, which is similar to the full report but skips some of the details and has fewer\/shorter quotes<\/li>\n<li>full report, which is a whopper of a thing, including many many quotes from bi people.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All those are available for anyone to read, either as a web page or as PDF, from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.consortium.lgbt\/bi-funding-research-2021\/\">Bi Funding Research page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The full-length one is like a <em>book<\/em>, we had so many insightful contributions. And\u00a0I think a lot of bi organisers (and other grassroots community group organisers) will find the stories and quotes extremely relatable \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>We aren&#8217;t yet in a position to reveal what&#8217;s going to come of it at the Consortium end in terms of funding for bi groups, because that&#8217;s still in the middle of brewing. But we are allowed to say that there <em>will<\/em> be the beginnings of things happening pretty soon.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Thanks to everyone who gave their time for this, which was a lot of people. (We\u00a0did two surveys, three online discussions with bi organisers, and five individual interviews.)<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to Paul and the team at <a title=\"News story from the Consortium about the launch of the research.\" href=\"https:\/\/www.consortium.lgbt\/2021\/08\/19\/funding-bi-organisations-community-research-launches\/\">Consortium<\/a>, who initiated this research and found the money to pay us to do it! and have been tip top supportive of the whole thing.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to the <a href=\"https:\/\/nationalemergenciestrust.org.uk\/\">National Emergencies Trust<\/a>, who co-funded paying us.<\/p>\n<p>And big love to Libby and John, co-researchers!
