I have so much love for you guys I am writing this in my room, wearing sunglasses because my brain has decided light is the ULTIMATE ENEMY.
If someone drops the bi-bomb on you – what do you do?!
Let us find out on a magical mystery journey of the web and my brain <3
Scenario 1: The romantic/sexual partner
I like to test the waters with a general “Ooh, that person is attractive/fit/appropriate word” on the TV.
Or casually drop in the “My ex-boy/girlfriend…” Though that one does assume you’re feeling that you can talk about exes/past crushes…
These things don’t always go the way you planned – I’ve had a guy who assumed that it was then cool to ask if there was any chance of me, him and my best friend (no thanks), and a girl who said she couldn’t handle that I’d been with guys.
But if something like that happens? Sweetie, they aren’t worth your time. The right person (or people) will love you for YOU 🙂
Scenario 2: The Parents
Probably not like I did.
Don’t hide the sex issue of Diva down the side of your bed and then go back to uni without it.
Or like most of my friends did – in some level intoxicated.
In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever met someone that came out to their parents in a beautiful and eloquent manner, gay/lesbian or bi…
If you get the chance to do it in your own time, then that’s awesome, if you’re put on the spot it’s terrifying…I think the best advice I can give is to be honest.
They love you, but it might be really hard for them to understand/come to terms with…just know that there is support out there for you if they take a while to come round <3
I’m ridiculously lucky in that my parents and my family that know have been amazing.
Scenario 3: I’m not bi, someone has just told me they are and I don’t know how to react…
Don’t be afraid to ask questions…if they feel the time has come to tell you, then they want you to know.
Don’t assume you’ve been told because the person is BLINDLY IN LOVE WITH YOU (though, there is a chance).
Don’t feel like you have to do anything differently really. They haven’t joined a cult/started believing in the Flying Spaghetti Monster/got some form of infectious disease.
Reet, well that will be all for now (should probably be writing my essay…)
For the next post, if anyone would like to comment/tweet me questions (about bisexuality, pansexuality, my ideas, things they’ve heard), I shall do my best to answer them!
Excellent.
Much cheesy love!
