Little Bit Bi

Sep 23, 2022 ~ Written by Jennifer ~ Leave a Comment
Plans for an online event on 18 Oct 2022, for people who are “a little bit bi”, and would like a welcoming space to talk about it. One thing a lot of bi people have in common is having at some point worried that we “weren’t bi enough“. Part of the stereotype of bisexuality is that you have to be in some sense & [...]

Bisexuality briefing for the Switchbo...

Mar 21, 2022 ~ Written by Jennifer ~ Leave a Comment
23-minute video briefing about being supportive to bi people. Back in December 2021, I was hired by Switchboard LGBT Helpline to do a session on the theme of bisexuality, for their volunteers.  I did a little presentation, then a Q&A.  They’re based in London, whereas I was in Nottingham, but due to the wonders of internet communi [...]

Bi funding research results

Aug 19, 2021 ~ Written by Jennifer ~ Leave a Comment
Our research into the funding of UK bi organisations is out today! This represents a lot of people’s insights and ideas, gathered by me and Libby (of Biscuit) and John (of the London Bisexual Meetup).  Thanks to everyone who contributed! We said from the start that we wanted our findings to go out in public so that other interested fund [...]

Reasons for (& against) BiCon bei...

Jan 14, 2021 ~ Written by Jennifer ~ Leave a Comment
BiCon 2020 was online. Here’s my reasoning for why I think it’s probably best to do it that way again in 2021. This last autumn, I spent a lot of time listening to people about BiCon, because of the anti-racism review. (Here’s the main write-up from that.) I was talking to a friend one day in the middle of that process, and [...]

BiCon, revisited

Nov 12, 2020 ~ Written by Jennifer ~ Leave a Comment
Change, systems, racism, ethics, and other personal/political musings. Plus news of a BiCon anti-racism review. About 12 years ago, I mostly disengaged with BiCon (annual residential UK bi gathering). I’ve dipped in as a day visitor a few times since then, when it came to Nottingham or Leicester – but&n [...]

New rules for meetups

Sep 16, 2020 ~ Written by Jennifer ~ Leave a Comment
Practical commentary on new English legislation to limit meetups, supposed to reduce covid virus transmission. As someone who sometimes runs events, like gigs or bi community things or home ed meetups, I thought I’d better get my head round this new bit of law, which is active from 14 September 2020. Discla [...]

The “Bisexuality Briefing”, at Notts ...

Sep 23, 2019 ~ Written by Jennifer ~ Leave a Comment
Just over 13 minutes of video, welcoming bi / pan / queer / no-label people to Notts Pride in 2019, and giving everyone some bi facts. Plus the story of how it came about. Here it is! Content note: small flashing lights occasionally – the actual stage lights on the day. Also, some wobbliness from the camera, but it’s mos [...]

Visibility and celebrations: 6-minute...

Sep 23, 2017 ~ Written by Jennifer ~ Leave a Comment
On International Celebrate Bisexuality Day 2015 in Nottingham, Hannah organised a gathering by the Robin Hood statue, round the corner from Nottingham Castle. This is the little speech I made to mark the day. You can switch on subtitles using the little CC (“closed captions”) icon in the bottom right hand corner of the video sc [...]

Four points for better bi-related med...

Jun 01, 2017 ~ Written by Jennifer ~ Leave a Comment
Mainly for people who write articles and blog posts and want to up their bi-solidarity game. That doesn’t only mean non-bi people; we can benefit from considering this stuff ourselves. And some of the points are also relevant where we ourselves might be writing about some other marginalised group. There’ [...]

Bi erasure in a nutshell

Dec 21, 2016 ~ Written by Jennifer ~ Leave a Comment
New badge design, new micro-summary. Regular readers will know that a current political theme of mine is bi erasure. In particular, I’ve been trying to explain & spread Kenji Yoshino’s ideas of how erasure functions on different interlocking levels. (Essay / video.) I think this understanding of bi erasure mecha [...]

Site Backstory:

BiBloggers was launched in September 2010 following a bisexual blogging workshop at the 10th International Conference on Bisexuality in London, UK.

Jen Yockney brought the idea of a site that shared bi blogs to the workshop and a couple of weeks later, with hosting from BiMedia.org, the site was born.
